NEWS,

And after the Star Wars-inspired yacht comes Enterprise from "Star Trek"

the latest trimaran concept will amaze you

This sleek new 275-foot trimaran concept is like Enterprise from "Star Trek " for the high seas

Anthony Glasson is going where no man has gone before with his latest trimaran concept.

The disruptive designer, who heads up M51 Concepts, has just unveiled a new 275-footer that takes design cues from the fictional starship featured in the hit Star Trek franchise. However, it was only when the Enterprise was completed that the designer could clearly see his muse.

“The inspiration for the exterior styling only came to fruition once it was done: I was watching the first season of Star Trek and subconsciously designed a yacht that resembles the original Enterprise,” Glasson said in a statement.

The hull shape was actually decided for a completely different reason: functionality. The designer wanted to incorporate a "courtyard" and therefore needed the wide beam characteristic of a trimaran. Located on the sun deck, this new space is fully enclosed to protect you from the elements but has an open roof to let in the sun's rays. You'll find a hot tub, wet bar and comfortable sofas forward, then a full gym and lounge aft. The courtyard is accessed via a central circular lift that services all decks.

Starting from the top, the main deck is dedicated to the crew but also houses the owner's office and day lounge. The upper deck comprises the open-plan main salon, bar and dining area with panoramic views, while the main deck houses a beach club, Jacuzzi and the rest of the spacious accommodation.

As for accommodation, Enterprise can accommodate 12 guests in a full-beam owner's suite and seven flexible guest cabins. She offers plenty of space for outdoor relaxation too, with a spacious foredeck sporting a lounge, an open-air dining area and a third hot tub.

While the Enterprise isn't quite an explorer - Glasson calls it an adventure yacht - it shares some of the same qualities. The gigantic tender garage, for example, is located aft under the helipad and offers plenty of space for toys. The travel cruiser is also equipped with a hybrid propulsion system that promises a range of 5,000 nautical miles.

Additionally, Glasson says the all-aluminum multihull has some advantages over monohulls of similar length and volume. In fact, you can expect to use about 30 percent less fuel on the high seas. Captain Kirk would be proud.
