How many new projects did the Monaco yacht show bring to light? Really many! Even an innovative submarine!
Super Sub, U-Boat Worx
Presented at MYS 2023, this submarine is capable of reaching remarkable speeds during its dives, while ensuring maximum safety.
In a world where technology increasingly merges with adventure, the deep sea is the last frontier of exploration. And to reach exceptional depths you need an equally exceptional submarine. During the Monaco Yacht Show, held from 25 to 28 September, the Dutch company U-Boat Worx unveiled its new Super Sub, a submarine with a modern and high-performance character that promises to set a new standard in the submarine industry.
“The Super Sub's 10 knot speed is 3-4 knots faster than the maximum cruising speed of a bottlenose dolphin and 7 knots faster than a medium submersible,” said Roy Heijdra, marketing director of U-Boat Worx. «Owners can glide behind a pod of sea turtles, cruise alongside a school of sharks, dive and spin with a pod of dolphins, or navigate swiftly through undercurrents with a powerful barracuda. The supersub is more than a ticket to an underwater theater; It's a VIP backstage pass that puts guests right in the heart of the action."
This new "super submarine" can reach speeds of up to 10 knots and offers comfortable and effective maneuverability thanks to a frontal pressure hull made of transparent acrylic, so as to allow a wide and unobstructed view of aquatic fauna and flora during diving . To further improve the submarine's guidance system, a proprietary information system called UIS, with user-accessible interface, has been implemented, along with a highly reliable and precise SHARC control system. Among the settings there is also an autopilot option that allows users to set a precise route and follow a direction or point of interest without the need to remain at the controls.
The submarine has an internal autonomy of approximately 96 hours, essential to ensure safe diving. Furthermore, it has a "maximum depth protection" safety system that automatically raises it if the dive exceeds the maximum permitted depth. For greater safety, the submarine is also equipped with a positioning system that allows it to be located from the surface if necessary.
The first units of Super Sub will be available for purchase starting from October 2024.
