The young German company Tyde is now extending its concept to a 15-meter yacht for pleasure craft. For this second test, the company once again collaborated with BMW, which supplies the electric technology.
A new partnership between Tyde and BMW
Founded in 2021, the German company Tyde presented in 2023 the Icon, a 13-meter electric foiling yacht for passenger transport, designed in collaboration with BMW. This time, the company is developing a new electric-powered luxury yacht for private clients. It is an open hull 15 meters long, with a cutting-edge design as always. Once again, Tyde will be responsible for the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of the project. BWM contributes components and experience in the field of electromobility. The design is once again the work of Designworks studio, a subsidiary of the BMW Group.
Electric motors and foils
Like the professional model, the Open will be equipped with foils and two electric motors of 100 kW each and a battery of around 400 kWh. The expected speeds are 30 knots maximum and 25 knots cruising, with a range of 50 miles. Solar panels have been installed on the impressive roof to power the batteries.
An open but habitable model
The design is characterized by a strongly stepped bow and tapered bulkheads at the stern. The driving position is well protected by a very curved windshield, extended by an imposing fixed hard-top held in place by reinforcements mounted on the bulkheads. With a length of 14.8 m and a width of 4.5 m, the Open can accommodate up to 8 people. Its flat deck layout includes a helm station for two people, a kitchen area with a large lounge, a double sundeck at the stern and a relaxation area at the bow.
Below deck, this model will offer a spacious, bright and carefully furnished cabin. It will include a sleeping area, a large screen television, an office area, ample storage space and a fully equipped bathroom.
